SETH KING is a painter and poet living in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and two sons. His recent poetry has been published or is forthcoming in The Furious Gazelles, Yellow Chair Review, The Writing Disorder, the Sierra Nevada Review, and 805 Lit + Art.

Pulp paperback book covers of the 1940s and 50s were the primary jumping off point for this series of paintings. Seth's uncle had shelves full of these paperbacks and he was always fascinated by the garish drawings, the over-the-top copy. He was also interested in simple diagrams or educational charts; the idea that something is numbered or lettered and the corresponding number or letter reveals an identity in language for the object, or what happens to our perception of the visual when there is no explanation.
