MR. UNIVERSE

In order to prove how strong I am,

I’ll need ten volunteers, ten of my nearest & dearest,
to stand next to each other on a boulder

roughly the same size as my worldly worries & woes.

Ask me if I care & I’ll lift the whole shebang
high overhead, shrug my Atlas-sized burden

into orbit & wave a graceful goodbye.

I’m strong enough to go it alone.
I’ll work the muscles of my right arm

until they burst

& then I’ll work the muscles of my left arm
& then I’ll discover new muscles & work them.

If someone bigger comes along

I might let them land a few punches
just to prove nothing

is ever out of my hands, that I can end it all whenever I want.
