he said. "Sky
sculpture or sand?" I imagined cliffs
or clouds--
not the Empire State Building, its cold
needling and my busted boots
couched in concrete.
Instead I chose blueberries
and the shudder of pick-up trucks. He lost me
when I lost my lipstick.
